AIM/E-QUIP Schools Programme
Offering a fresh initiative for schools in the Southampton area, AIM Community (the youth inclusion project which works to increase integration and self-esteem among ‘at risk’ young people) are now working in collaboration with E-QUIP Arts. Working together, we are committed to offering innovative and accessible creative arts programmes; individually tailored to the needs of each school, and specifically designed to facilitate inclusion and integration, while raising the ability, esteem and aspirations of young people.
Although we work with young people of all ages and abilities, our priority is to engage with students (school years 4-11) who are identified as ‘at risk’ of failing to complete their mainstream education, and those in need of particular support and intervention at a challenging time of life. Drawing upon AIM’s experience delivering a range of programmes in schools across Bournemouth and Poole, and upon E-QUIP’s experience delivering high-quality performing arts training and events, we are excited to offer a fresh take on the proven success of AIM’s creative arts and youth mentoring programmes.
We can offer a range of programmes drawing on a wide variety of creative streams – and would be delighted to work with you to design and deliver a programme that most effectively meets your needs, circumstances and expectations. We are constantly exploring new avenues in the creative and performing arts, and currently offer the following streams:
Art | Drama | Fashion | Music | DJ-ing | Singing | Dance
All of our creative streams can be delivered at a variety of levels – ranging from after-school clubs, special events and holiday activities, to one-off workshops and short-term interventions, through to long-term alternative curriculum provision for young people at risk of exclusion.
Each of our creative programmes is designed not only to develop young peoples’ ability in their chosen area, but also to raise their confidence and self-esteem. However, we also offer a special course that focuses specifically on issues around self-esteem, self-image, self-understanding and healthy relationships – in order to effectively equip young people for their journey into adulthood and fullness of life. We will also work with schools and other local organisations to offer young people the opportunity for one-to-one or group mentoring following their completion of any of our creative arts or self-esteem programmes.
Many of our programmes offer students the possibility of gaining valuable QCF/NQF/UCAS points, alongside a range of nationally-recognised qualifications at various levels and lengths to suit individual needs. Possible accreditations are with ASDAN Expressive Arts Award, ASDAN Award of Personal Effectiveness, ASDAN Certificate of Personal Effectiveness and ROCKSCHOOL Music Practitioner Qualifications.
Should your school wish to partner with us, we would be delighted to work with you to design and deliver a programme that ensures your students are receiving the most beneficial experience possible. TAG (The Acting Group)
Mondays 7:30pm – 9pm, Freemantle Community Centre.
TAG (The Acting Group), is a local drama group for adults with learning disabilities and has been running now for just over three years. It was started up by Southampton Day Services in response to lots of enquiries from service users in the city and we took over the running of the group back in 2010 and it has grown very popular!
The group meets each Monday evening at Freemantle Community Centre where we share refreshments together before spending an hour working on drama, music and dance ready for our productions. The group stage two shows each year (Summer and Winter) and always attract a good audience along in support of their efforts. Past productions include ‘Swifter, Stronger, Higher’ (an Olympic play), Oscars Movie Night, Cinderella and A Christmas Carol.
The group is open to anyone aged over 18 and individuals are allowed to attend on their own (if appropriate) or with a support worker. For any more information and to book a place in the group please contact neil@e-quiparts.org.uk or call 07737 287 152.
Other Schools Work
E-QUIP is also available to offer support to schools in the area of themed assemblies. We have experience of working in a number of schools in the city offering drama and music to help communicate your theme to children, particularly in Infant and Primary Schools.
If you would like to invite E-QUIP in to work in your school then please contact neil@e-quiparts.org.uk or call on 07737 287 152
